French Sacred Heart Porcelain Devotional Plaque, c.1880

£120

One of a kind — only one available.

A late 19th-century French devotional piece with a hand-painted porcelain portrait of Jesus and the Sacred Heart in an engraved silvered-brass frame. The ornate outline suggests a stylised lily or fleur-de-lis. Frame approximately 4 × 3 inches. The reverse retains a long metal fitting and an old knotted thread. Considerable age-related wear: tarnishing, oxidation, verdigris, surface marks, loss of silvering, and staining to the porcelain backing.
